How to Make your Own Kids Stories: Parents, Take a Closer Look
from:
Kids in nature love stories. They tend to frequently ask you for a short yet happy-ending bedtime story before they go to sleep. Sometimes, even in the middle of your cooking duties before lunch, they will approach and give you their favorite children’s story book for you to narrate the story to them.
You will find it enjoyable to read stories for your kids because you are entertaining them and at the same time you are doing your obligation to them as their parent. But it will be even more enjoyable if you can come up with your own stories to be narrated to your kids.
You need not be a genius to have your own interesting kid stories. All you need is a wider scope of imagination and patience in coming up with an excellent story that can be a “bestseller” to your kids. Read the rest of this article and learn how to create your own stories and narrate it to your kids as if you are just talking with a good old friend of yours.
“If a picture paints a thousand words…” Remember the first line of the song “If” by The Bread? “If a picture paints a thousand words…” Yes, it really is! A picture can speak a thousand words, and you can use it in your creation. Choose a picture or several pictures from books, newspaper, magazines, and others. Then, describe what the picture is. You may add some fictional elements, such as the Statue of Liberty is the favorite hangout of Sponge Bob.
Adding Twist to Daily Events
The events that are happening everyday can be converted into an interesting story for your kids. For instance, instead of saying that “Lebron James scored 40 points in their match against Chicago”, you may say that “Lebron James make use of his magic shoes on their match against Chicago, and he have scored 40 points!”
Dull Newspaper Story to an Interesting One
You may also turn a dull story in the newspaper and convert it into an interesting one. Personalize the news that you have got on the newspaper and make your kids believe that real people are behind that story. You may also add some twist such as fictional elements to make it an interesting one.
The Power of Nature
If children’s book writers are sourcing out their ideas by just staring at nearby trees, then why should you not do the same thing? Nature is a very good source of interesting and fresh ideas. You may narrate to your children the story about the ant or the elephant or how to live as a mango tree.
Hobbies, Hobbies, Hobbies…
You can also make an interesting story out of your favorite hobby. If you are a basketball enthusiast, you can come out with a story about your match with an alien from Mars and tell your kids how you beat him with your power dunk!
The People on the Limelight
Star your favorite icon or famous person in your story. You may either narrate their biography to your kids or you can make them the ultimate star in your fictional stories. How about getting Jim Carrey on your space adventure to Jupiter?
Turning Back the Hands of Time
Play like a time machine and go back to the past. Aside from the entertainment that it brings, it can also be an educational experience for your kids. Make a story about an Indian who has conquered the whole European continent.
Give Life to Non-Living Things
Walking broomstick? Talking trash can? Speaking computer monitor? These weird things can start an interesting kid’s story. Most fairy tales are popular to children because of the inclusion of non-living things as part of their story plot (like Beauty and the Beast, for instance).
These are just some of the ways you can come up with your own kid’s stories. Widen your imagination and be the best storyteller of all times!
